Our Story

Juntos Farm began as a family project for Sophie Daunais and Christian Jochnick in 2018.
Leaving their busy city lives in London, they purchased a small farm in San Mateu, Ibiza, to
raise their children closer to nature and grow organic food for their family and the local
community.

As they embarked on their journey, purchasing land, buying equipment, sourcing seeds, and
harvesting their first crops, they quickly realized the numerous challenges small-scale
organic farmers face. Ibiza, in particular, has seen a significant decline in agriculture over the
past decades due to tourism pressures and global competition undermining the local food
economy. Sophie and Christian noticed a lack of access to knowledge, training, resources,
shared equipment, food distribution, and local markets for small-scale producers like them.

Drawing from their business experiences, Sophie and Christian envisioned creating a brand
and a destination that redefined a traditional farm to be more diverse, dynamic, and
community-focused. They wanted to restore the 'culture' in 'agriculture' by establishing a
physical site that could serve as a food hub for local farmers, producers, and residents,
offering a range of products supporting an economy for farmers transitioning to
regenerative agriculture. During their search, they discovered an abandoned dairy farm near
Santa Gertrudis.

This unique site spanned 20 hectares in the heart of the island, featuring agricultural
buildings overlooking more than 8 hectares of arable land and surrounded by 8 hectares of
forest. They realized that this old dairy farm could become a living lab and lighthouse
project supporting a community-wide transition to local, regenerative agriculture.

As this vision took shape, Christian met Finn Harries, who shared his vision, and together
they began creating Juntos Farm. Meanwhile, Sophie founded a sister company, the
farm-to-table restaurant Juntos House.

Juntos Farm is still in its early stages. We are building an incredible team of passionate
people who share our mission and taking the first steps to create the kind of space we wish
existed when we started our farming journey. We’re excited to share our journey as we go.
