Structural Cane Course

Introductory Course - 2 weeks (FULL)

The introductory course offers an initiation to the entire CanyaViva Method, encompassing all processes from harvesting the cane to assembling the arch.

Includes 1 presentation and 2 theoretical classes.

Practical Course - 4 weeks

This course will focus on hands-on practice, where participants will engage in manufacturing processes for different arches and assemble nerves to create a complete structure ready for covering.

Includes 1 presentation and 3 theoretical classes.

Full Course - 6 weeks

Participants who choose to complete the 6 weeks will gain hands-on experience, engaging in the manufacturing processes for different arches and assembling nerves to create a complete structure ready for covering.

Includes 1 presentation and 4 theoretical classes.

All courses start on the same date to ensure all participants get an introduction to the CanyaViva method at the start of the course.

Grass Roof Thatching Course

Introductory Course - 2 weeks

This course provides an introduction to the properties and applications of the grass and preparation techniques for thatching.

Full Course - 6 weeks

For those wanting to put those techniques into practice, we recommend joining us for the full 6-week course. Participants will gain hands-on experience adding the thatching to a previously constructed cane structure.

What's included

Lunch will be provided on site Monday-Friday. We aim to offer healthy and varied meals with ingredients mostly sourced fresh from the farm. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions.

We are organising transport to and from the course for those staying at our partner campsite. Please let us know if you require this service so we can work out accurate numbers. 

Accommodation Options

Participants who need accommodation for the duration of the course can opt to stay at a campsite nearby, where they'll find a range of accommodations available, from tents to bungalows, at a discounted price.

What to bring

Please remember that all courses will be held outdoors, so it's important to come prepared for the hot Ibiza summers. Additionally, some courses will involve hands-on construction work, requiring specific gear.

Here is a list of suggestions for what to bring with you:

  • Boots, trousers, long-sleeved shirt and strong work gloves (harvest)
  • Closed footwear (NOT sandals) and thin gloves (course)
  • Sunhat (essential)
  • Water bottle
  • Penknife (if possible with pliers)
  • Flashlight
  • Notepad and pen/pencil

Language

The course will be taught primarily in English but Spanish translation will be available for those who need it.

Location

The course will be run at Juntos Farm. Directions will be sent if your application is approved.
